These Riverbed CX-570 units are the whole reason this project exists—I saw six NICs and a super low price and figured it had DIY router potential. With some tinkering (especially around LAN bypass), it turned into a surprisingly capable OPNsense box for the money.

- +Very cheap way to get a 6-port gigabit platform
- +Dual 2.5-inch drive bays for SSDs
- +Fun to repurpose if you like odd enterprise gear
Cons
- -LAN bypass relays can make ports seem “dead” until configured
- -Stuck with gigabit interfaces
- -Long/awkward chassis for some setups
