m.2 E to Micro SD

This is one of the most compact ways I’ve found to add a little extra storage using an M.2 E-key slot, especially when there’s no room for a bigger adapter. It’s USB 2.0 and you’re relying on SD cards, so it’s not fast and it’s not ideal for heavy writes, but it absolutely has a place in weird, space-constrained builds.

Pros

  • +Fits in very tight E-key locations without blocking other slots
  • +Works as “extra storage” when you otherwise have no expansion options

Cons

  • -USB 2.0 speeds (~50 MB/s) are a major bottleneck
  • -SD cards have lower durability than SATA/NVMe SSDs
