About This Video

In this video I’m taking my new Nikon Z6 out for a real-world filmmaking test and sharing my first impressions. I shot everything handheld with the 24–70mm f/4 kit lens, mostly in 4K at 30fps and some clips in 1080p at 120fps for slow motion. The goal wasn’t a studio review with charts—it was to see how the camera feels when you’re actually out filming, moving fast, and trying to keep things cinematic. I also show you what the footage looks like when I run it through my own HE-LOG picture profile and my Log LUTs, because for me the final image is always a mix of how you shoot and how you grade. If you’re thinking about the Z6 for video, this is basically a quick look at the kind of results you can expect with a simple handheld setup and a clean, moody grade. It’s a straightforward test, but it gives you a solid idea of how the Z6 fits into a filmmaking workflow.
