For me, we should be triggering the extension regardless—either to protect the asset and potentially cash in if we stay up, or to keep him because I genuinely think he’s at least Championship level and could be important if we go down. I also touch on the wider “academy stepping up” conversation (without doing the full relegation tier-list nonsense). I’m honest about who I think is ready now—Earthy, Scarles, and Pots—and who I think still needs loans or time, like Orford, Ajala and others. It’s a reality check on how big the jump is from U21s to senior football, even when the talent is obvious.
