I’ve been a long-time iPhone user, so in this video I spent time with the new OPPO Reno14 Series and put it in a real NYC week—commutes, Chinatown walk-and-talks, and a cafe day in Brooklyn—to see if it can actually hang with an iPhone 16 as a full experience. OPPO sent over the Reno14F, Reno14, and Reno14 Pro, and I focused on what matters day-to-day: design, display, battery, usability, and of course the cameras. On paper, the Reno14 comes out swinging with a 50MP main, an ultrawide with autofocus, and a 50MP telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom—plus a 50MP selfie camera with autofocus, which is a huge leap compared to the iPhone 16’s front camera. Where it gets really interesting is AI. Apple has Cleanup, but Reno14 goes way further with tools like AI Eraser, Reflection Remover, Unblur, Recompose, and Perfect Shot—stuff that actually helps you refine shots without jumping into third-party apps. On the productivity side, I liked how aggressive and integrated the experience felt, from system-level Google Gemini to AI writing and summaries inside Gmail. Add in the massive 6,000–6,200mAh batteries, fast charging (I went 12% to 93% in under 45 minutes on the Pro), and a UI that felt intuitive as an iPhone user, and it’s a legit “phones should be fun, but also powerful” kind of device.
