Apple just introduced the iPhone 17 Air, and the whole pitch is simple: “a piece of the future” that’s powerful, but so thin and light it basically disappears in your hand. In this video I’m reacting to what Apple revealed—starting with the radically thin grade 5 “spacecraft” titanium frame, polished to a mirrored finish, plus a new approach to durability where Ceramic Shield now encloses the titanium on both sides. Apple’s also bringing Ceramic Shield to the back for the first time, with claims of better scratch resistance and significantly improved crack resistance. Design-wise, the biggest tell is the camera situation: one lens. Apple says they had to redesign the iconic camera plateau, machining it from both sides so the display can stretch without adding bulk, and they precision-milled the inside to make room for the cameras, speaker, and Apple silicon. Color options are space black, cloud white, light gold, and sky blue, and the frame uses 80% recycled titanium. On the performance and connectivity side, Apple teased an all-new Apple-designed chip called N1, bringing Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, plus improvements to performance and reliability (including personal hotspot).
