I love this 3.5L EcoBoost, But this changes things In this video, I talk about where I ranked the 3.5L EcoBoost in my latest half-ton engine rankings and why it ended up lower on the list this year. The 3.5 EcoBoost really is a bit of a yin and yang engine. On one hand, it makes excellent power and torque, tows extremely well, and is one of the strongest performers in the half-ton segment. On the other hand, it’s a fairly complex engine, and like any high-output turbocharged platform, long-term reliability can be more of a question compared to simpler designs. One of the biggest factors that influenced my ranking this year is the introduction of gasoline particulate filters (GPFs) coming on the 2026 models and the potential impact those could have over time. As always, these rankings are just my perspective based on real-world use and experience. I’m curious what you think — where would you rank the 3.5 EcoBoost? Let me know in the comments.
