In this Thinkific tutorial for beginners, I build and launch a complete online course from scratch—end to end—in one session. I start with sign-up and onboarding (yes, you’ll need a credit card for the 30-day trial, and I show you exactly where to cancel). Then I walk through Thinkific’s AI course outline generator and how to prompt it properly. My rule here is simple: AI needs clarity and specificity. I structure my prompt into broad objectives, core structure, and clear dos and don’ts, and I include context like my website and YouTube so the output matches my brand and voice. After that, I tour the dashboard so you actually understand where everything lives: Products, Design, Marketing (their built-in CRM), Sales, Users, Analytics, Learner Hub, Integrations, and Settings. Then we get into the real build: chapters vs. lessons, lesson types (video, text, quiz, PDF, downloads, surveys, assignments, live Zoom), and the settings that matter—draft-by-default, free preview lessons, prerequisites, discussions, and passing grades for quizzes. Finally, I customize the landing page with the drag-and-drop editor (and I keep checking mobile view), set pricing (I use a one-time fee and tweak it), set up Thinkific Payments, customize the checkout thank-you page, and hit publish.
