Granola

I tested Granola because most AI meeting tools make client calls awkward by sending a bot into the room. Granola stays invisible, captures audio from your device, and produces structured notes using Enhance Notes, Ask Granola, and the newer Recipes slash commands for things like project briefs. If you want discreet, privacy-first meeting notes and can live without an audio playback file, it’s one of the strongest options I’ve used.

Pros

  • +Bot-free experience (no assistant joins the call)
  • +Enhance Notes blends my typed notes with the transcript for better summaries
  • +Recipes slash commands can generate briefs and coaching insights from meeting context
  • +Works across platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Slack huddles
  • +Lightweight app that runs silently in the background

Cons

  • -No audio/video recording saved, so you can’t verify details later
  • -Speaker labels are often generic since it’s invisible to participants
  • -Custom jargon turns off in multi-language mode
  • -Can be a battery hog during back-to-back calls
  • -Model training on anonymized data is on by default unless you opt out
