I’m walking through a massive DJI Osmo Action 6 firmware update that changes how I’d actually use this camera day-to-day. First, I show you how to install the update, then we get into the headline feature: 8K video recording. I also cover smaller (but honestly really practical) additions like new film tones in photo mode and new Quick Start options, which make it faster to jump into the exact shooting mode you want without digging through menus. From there, I get into the more “creator workflow” updates: macro lens focus peaking, a custom aspect ratio option when you’re using the Macro lens, and a Quality Priority improvement that’s meant to squeeze better results out of the camera when you care more about image quality than convenience. I also test what’s new with gesture control for livestreaming, and then I wrap up with one of the biggest real-world upgrades: cloud upload directly from the camera. If you shoot a lot, travel, or just want your footage backed up without thinking about it, this update is a big deal.
