TP-Link sent over a UFO-style Wi-Fi 7 access point (EAP772), an in-wall access point with PoE pass-through (UAP 725) that I mounted in a custom 3D-printed stand, and a multi-gig PoE+ Omada switch with SFP+ uplinks to tie everything into the rest of my LAN. I walk through adopting the new Wi-Fi 7 gear into the Omada controller, replacing my older EAP653, and then benchmark Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 6, and Wi-Fi 7 devices around the house, including my Minisforum AI X1 Wi-Fi 7 mini PC and my Samsung A54 phone, on both 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands. Along the way we talk about what makes Wi-Fi 7 different (6 GHz, multi-link operation, lower latency) and how it impacts gaming, Teams calls, and everyday home and homelab workloads, plus whether it’s actually worth upgrading your access points and switches now or waiting for your next phone and laptop refresh cycle.
