In this review, I put it through its paces on leather, wood, anodized aluminum, and stainless steel to see just how far a budget-friendly, open-frame engraver can go. With its modular heads—a 10W blue diode for general engraving and cutting, and a 1W IR head for stainless steel—the X2 surprised me with what it could handle, and frustrated me in a few other areas. This isn’t a deep-cutting fiber replacement, but for a few hundred bucks it’s an interesting entry point into laser engraving and light metal marking.
