In this video I review the EPOMAKER RT100, a 95% retro mechanical keyboard that honestly surprised me with how nice it feels and how good the whole build is. I unbox everything you get, including the really interesting rubber (not braided) USB-A to USB-C cable, the keycap and switch pullers (the keycap side is a bit tight), the manual, and the detachable smart monitor screen that connects by USB-C. I also go over the layout, gasket mount, the rotary multimedia knob, RGB lighting, and the three connection modes: Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4GHz, and wired USB-C. I show how the receiver is stored under the top cover and how the keyboard ends up with two USB-C ports (one for charging/wired use, one for the screen). The screen is one of the coolest parts: I loaded my own logo, and it can show custom images/animations plus useful info like date/time, temperature, CPU, connection mode, and battery. Then I run through the lighting modes (Fn + Delete, Fn + Page Up/Page Down) and do a sound test with the Sea Salt Silent switches—these are seriously quiet, but still feel tactile. My main wish is that the letters lit up for dark-room gaming, but overall I’d recommend it, especially if you want a clean retro gaming setup.
