MOMENTS it’s often the smallest moments during the largest events that get remembered the longest. The event itself may be insignificant but the emotional connections to it can echo indefinitely. Combat operations can be chaotic, even surreal at times but inside the chaos calm can be found. The uncertain can become familiar, fear can become comforting. It’s in these moments, one can truly feel alive. At the highest level the minor details matter. Our decisions have implications, our actions have consequences. Risk is ever-present, never negated merely mitigated. The threshold for success is high the margin for error fine. It’s in these moments that we can truly feel free. Each individual must walk their own path in order to reach their goals, but in combat true effect is always a group effort. Nostalgia can come with a filter, but the good times always outweigh the bad. In those brief moments in time our focus remains on the task in hand, over time perspective can be achieved and the gravity of our actions appreciated.
