Handling a Last-Minute Lender Request

A last-minute demand from a mortgage lender before they approve your application can be agonizing. Here’s how I’d handle a late request about credit cards. One of my readers was asked to close credit card accounts in order to further reassure her mortgage lender that she wouldn’t default on her loan. These sorts of last-minute requests from banks can drive qualified borrowers nuts. The loan application should be enough for a bank to decide to approve a loan or turn down an applicant without the need for conditions to be added at the final hour.
