Amazing Late October Harvest in Scotland, Ugu & Bitterleaf Update Late October harvest in Scotland, almost as good as last year despite the wild weather Harvest all the mature and ripe peppers. If you are handling hot peppers you may want to put on gloves and don't rub your eyes. Bell peppers are easy to grow even for beginners. You can grow them in containers, all they need in a sunny spot and adequate watering. Bell peppers can grow comfortably in small containers but the bigger the container/grow bag the bigger the pepper plant will grow. Always use containers with holes for drainage, holes will allow excess water to drain out this helps to prevent the potting mix from becoming soggy and causing root rot. This year our scotch bonnet peppers have struggled as the weather was not proper warm this year. To increase our growing season, we have placed the container in the greenhouse. To see if we are able to get a bountiful harvest. Kindly subscribe and turn your notifications to all, we should have an update soon. Growing peppers and chillies requires regular watering to keep the soil slightly moist, the growing medium should never dry out completely. After a few weeks and as the plants continue to mature they produce flowers along the stem, which is the beginning of the reproductive stage of growth. Peppers are self fertile, meaning each flower is capable of self-pollinating. This makes growing peppers easy even if you have just one plant. Shortly after a flower forms, it should begin forming a little bell pepper. Not all flowers will form a pepper and that is completely normal. With enough sunlight, water and nutrients, bell peppers grow quickly once they begin to form. All bell peppers are green to start with before developing their full colour which is red, yellow, orange and purple. Pick regularly to encourage more fruiting. Once harvested fruits should be kept in cool place and avoid direct exposure to sunlight. Hope this video encourages you to grow peppers in containers.
