‼️ UPDATE ‼️ I made a mistake when I said this was drop shipped from the manufacturer, I have been in contact with Burrfection Store and they let me know that it did indeed come from their warehouse, and was not a dropship from Hatsokukoro. They have been in contact with them to let them know of this issue and to give the example here from my video. I was offered a partial refund for the issues which was generous. Burrfection went above and beyond to help and be sure I was happy. This is a slightly different format that I usually do for videos, and probably a one off or an "occasional" style, but it needed sped up due to being lengthy, so just give it a watch and check out the massive needs for repair from a NEW knife! lol I purchased a Hatsukokoro Kurogane Aogami #2 Bunka 165mm from the Burrfection store. This is NO WAY representative of Ryky's quality -as this item was drop shipped by DHL from Hong Kong- . The item has an awful finish out of the box with gouged grinds, uneven bevels, and just plain terrible craftmanship. I paid $89 for this knife, and while I don't expect top tier quality at that price, I have purchased several Tojiro Shirogami steel knives with Kurouchi finish that I would consider PERFECTION out of the box, especially compared to this knife, and paid $51 for (Tojiro ITK Santoku). I thought about returning it, but then I wanted to: A.) Let the general public know this COULD happen to you with this brand B.) Use it as a lesson in repairing aspects of a Japanese knife and make demo videos from it. Hatsukokoro should do a better job of QC, or at least sold this as "blemished" or a "second" or something. In the video I even the bevels only to be unsatisfied and realizing it needs thinned after fixing the bevels, so I go about thinning the knife and repairing all the uneven spots and valley's in the blade.
