Break down Question - Why do you allow for 5 top seats, and then Roll a dice to see who gets it. Answer - I feel if 5 people have a chance to make it to the top 5, then you won’t have one guy who constantly steals the show. Having 5 means that a broader range of skills can still land in the top seat. After that a fair dice roll determines the winner. Question - Why do you allow people who just comment to have a chance to take the big prize, isn’t that unfair to the person who submitted the jump? Answer - One might think it unfair if submitting a jump cost somebody hundreds of dollars, or tons of man hours. But the truth is, submitting a jump on your own channel really isn’t a lot of work. In fact…Taking on the challenge is actually "more fun" simply added to doing what these guys are already doing anyway. In fact it could be argued that commenters actually put in just as much work because they follow the competition all month, comment/Sub and support these guys the whole way. So this is why commenters "as a whole" have just as much a chance to win as a jumper, But "individually", a commenter has a very small chance. Not to mention… for a YouTube competition, commenters are the life blood of the whole endeavor. How it works In the 1st stage of breaking down who the winner is, I go in and use a random comment picker in each of the top five jumpers videos. (Probably in a live video… We’ll see) At this point, theres about a 50% chance the top 5 jumper himself wins (1 person) vs a 50% chance a person from “the commenters pool” (hundreds of people) wins. Keep in mind though, jumpers are commenters too! And… if you think about it…the majority of commenters are the guys who submitted a jump anyway. If commenters had no skin in the game.... the competition wouldn't grow in a YouTube environment. THE MATH (chances to win) Commenters VS Jump Entrants Now as a Top 5 Jumper (who also comments) You’ve get a 50% chance to snuff out the commenters in in your video, right away in stage 1. Make it past that... you then have 20% chance to take home the big WIN. So again... 50% in stage 1. You increase your individual chances to win the competition in stage 1, from 1% to over 50% simply by creating a Jump entry, and making it to the top 5! Thats HUGE!! There may still be nay sayers, thinking the jumpers should have a higher chance to win, being 50/50 against the commenters pool in stage 1. But really, what’s better, especially for the whole of the thousands in the YouTube RC community? A chance for 40 to 50 entrants to win something… or a chance for Everyone in the RC family to win.
