You may initially think they're the same, but they're not even close....trust me. If you need more than 30 minutes of continuous use, or serious power, go with gasoline....the battery weed eater will need to have the battery swapped every 30 minutes of full use. If you're okay with short bursts of use before it losing charge, or swapping batteries throughout, then electric may be ok for you. But honestly I tried battery powered AND gas so you wouldn't have to...and I prefer the Husqvarna gas powered trimmer (for sure).
