Modern King Size Bed Design. Original Shiplap DIY King Bed Frame.

This king size bed was a beast to build, but I had a great time with the entire process from design to spending my first night in it. My wife and I had been sleeping on a queen size bed for way too long and now that we have a new home with a bigger master bedroom, it was time for an upgrade to a modern king size bed frame. Our old master bedroom could not fit a modern king bed frame, but as I age I guess I get a sense of entitlement for a bit of luxury. Sure I guess I'll miss my wife crowding my out of the queen bed we used to sleep. I'll probably miss fighting over where the center of the bed truly lies. I've never known how to build a king size bed but, I just dove in. That's the way to do it I believe. I watched Jason over on Bourbon Moth (YouTube channel link above) and I loved his structure and engineering so I followed what he did. My design is completely different and he built a smaller bed, probably a queen or full. For the design I incorporated shiplap as the main feature. I love how shiplap produces such perfect geometrical lines. Although the builder is very limited to just straight boards one on top of the other, If you have the skills you can make all sorts of designs with them. In the video you will notice it seems super fast and simple, but the reality is it took me quite a long time to get each cut just perfect to create the desired modern king size bed design. This DIY modern king size bed frame design project was no simple feat. It took a lot longer than I thought it would but I must say that it came out so nice and my wife is super happy with the final product.
