Suzuki DR-Z4s Freeway Riding and Top Speed Test

Since the announcement of the 2025 Suzuki DR-Z4s and the subsequent reveal that the new DRZ would not be getting a sixth gear, I've been wondering just how the DRZ4s could possibly perform at higher highway and freeway speeds...so I did the only reasonable thing and set out to ride the Suzuki DRZ4s on the freeway and to figure out what the top speed of this dual sport bike is along the way. Increase your visibility and on road safety with the Brake Free system: https://www.brakefreetech.com/DORKINTHEROAD (affiliate link) On this ride we did about 20 miles of drz freeway riding and discovered that while it could definitely use a sixth gear, the bike is reasonably tolerable at freeway speeds of 75 or 80 miles per hour. After leaving the freeway and taking a quick helicopter ride to a closed course in Mexico, I also tested the new DRZ4s top speed. I was kind of shocked to discover the new DRZ top speed is a lot lower than I was expecting. Even downhill I could barely get it over 80 miles per hour (allegedly). Riding the new DRZ on the freeway isn't a pleasant experience, but it's not intolerable, either. The 2024 DRZs has enough top speed and power to cruse at moderate freeway speeds, but if you're in a state where freeway speeds regularly exceed 80 miles per hour, you may want to think about taking back roads instead.
