Day 2 on the Arizona BDR had some of the toughest and best riding. We started the day off with a bang riding up 3 miles of deep sand wash to see some perfectly preserved mammoth tracks embedded in the rock. There were many drops and a lot of drama as we rode our big ADV bikes (I was on an Aprilia Tuareg 660) up and down the sandy section. Afterward, we rode up to a beautiful vista at Windy Point before taking on probably the hardest riding of the trip: the descent down the backside of Mt. Lemmon. I cannot believe this section is not on the official Arizona BDSR as an optional expert section. We had fun navigating the tight switchbacks, rock gardens, and deep descents coming down the mountain and back into the desert. We ended the day with our first overnight camp of the trip at Peppersauce campground. Riding and motorcycle camping the Arizona Backcountry Discovery Route has been a blast so far! Huge thanks to Arizona Motorcycle Adventure Tours (https://www.arizonamotorcycleadventuretours.com/) for organizing this tour and to Colorado Motorcycle Adventures (https://www.coloradomotorcycleadventures.com/) for loaning me the awesome Tuareg 660. I hope you'll join me for the entire five day journey on the Arizona BDR. I rode the Aprilia Tuareg 660 and had a blast exploring the deserts, lakes, and forests of Arizona. Make sure you subscribe so you don't miss the entire Dork in the Road Arizona BDR trip! Full disclosure: I was able to come on this tour for free in exchange for my help promoting it.
