Prop Testing Our Budget Boat | We Jumped It!

Welcome back to the budget boat series. Buy a boat for cheap online for the lake, river, intracoastal, or ocean and have some fun with it! In our last video I bought a center console for sale fishing boat on Facebook marketplace for just $5,000. After taking it out into the ocean we realized it needed a new propeller as the current prop had some dings and bends in it. A bent prop can cause poor top speed and acceleration of a boat. A broken propeller can cause engine damage and should not be used. To see what is better 4 or 3 blade propeller we got both and put them to the test. Both had slightly different pitch angles on the blades. The boat came with a 3 blade 15 degree pitch and we decided to test a 4 blade 15 and a 3 blade 16. As you can see all three props brought different results to the table. For cruising on plane a higher pitch blade propeller is better for fuel economy so that’s what I ended up choosing. We also decided to have a little fun and jump the boat over an airboat ramp in northern Florida.
