About This Video

Portfolios are one of my favorite ways to help students showcase their work, and in this video I walk you through a quick, classroom-friendly way to build a student portfolio using Google Sites. I focus on getting a clean site set up fast—so students aren’t stuck fiddling with settings forever—and making sure the portfolio is organized in a way that’s easy for a teacher (and families) to navigate. I show the basic flow for creating a new Google Site, naming it, and structuring pages so students can add artifacts over time. The big takeaway is to keep it simple: a homepage plus a few clear sections (by subject, project, or quarter) goes a long way. Once the framework is in place, students can drop in links, images, and work samples as they complete assignments, turning Google Sites into a living collection of growth instead of a one-and-done project.
