About This Video

In this video I sit down and talk through why the Canon C50 feels like a huge missed opportunity. I’m not coming at this from a “Canon is doomed” angle—I’m coming at it as someone who actually wants Canon to win in this space. I go over what I genuinely like about the idea of the C50, but then I get into the parts that left me underwhelmed: the spec choices, the overall form, and why it doesn’t feel like it’s fully committing to what a lot of working shooters were hoping for. The biggest thing I dig into is the missed opportunity in the design and usability—especially when you compare what Canon could’ve done versus what competitors are doing, and even how Canon’s own lineup creates weird overlap. I also talk about form factor issues (including the kind of “FX3-style” conversation people keep having), why losing an EVF matters more than some folks admit, and the ISO questions that immediately pop up when you look at this camera’s positioning. I end by comparing it to the R5C and basically opening the floor: I’m not trying to start a war, I’m trying to start a real discussion about what Canon should’ve built here.
