In 2021 Apple announced new privacy settings to all their IOS devices and rolled out IOS 14 which gave the user the option to turn off tracking on their device. Simply put, this meant Facebook could no longer track your activity and feed it back to the algorithm. So instead of getting targeted ads for services and products you were interested in now you were getting random adverts on your feed and in your stories that you don't care about. Now there's pros and cons to turning off tracking. Yes you stop Facebook stalking you round the internet and then dropping a perfectly timed ad just after you've been talking or looking at that exact product. But like I mentioned you might now be getting random Facebook ads. I know, I would prefer to get ads about things I'm interested in….suppose that's why I left tracking on. But with this change proposed a bigger issue.... And that was that the Facebook Conversion campaigns we ran on Facebook for online personal trainers were no longer as effective due to the lack of tracking, poor Facebook pixel data and & reporting.
