Also I didn't really circle back to why this is so valuable, so let me do it here. It's a little "mathy." This is assuming we want 10 pounds of spawn. So if you look at a bag of unclebens rice, its $2.50 for 8 ounces. to get 10 pounds of rice "spawn", I need $50. The pressure cooker was 100 bucks when i bought it and the impulse sealer was 20. So 120 for starters. The bags work out to maybe 30 cents a bag, the injection port is like 15 cents per. Plus the oats. I got 50 pounds for 25 bucks. To get 10 pounds of hydrated oats, we need 4 pounds dry. Or 8% of the bag. Well 8% of that cost is 4 bucks. So to make 4, 2.5 pound bags, i need $1.20 in bags, 60 cents in injection ports, and 4 dollars in oats. For a total of $5.80 plus, of course, the cost of propane to sterilize. If you plan on doing this more than once or twice, it easily pays for itself. Just doing 10 pounds of uncle bens tek three times would put you ahead. Long-term. Just my 2 cents. 💬 Got questions?
