Description from website: (translated via Grok): One of the most technically unusual games for the ZX Spectrum was released recently by ALKO. It's called **Border Game**, and this is one of those cases where the title perfectly reflects the essence. The whole puzzle is played exclusively on the border — as you know, with some special coder voodoo, you can actually display meaningful things there. The gameplay is very simple: stripes of three colors (red, green, and blue) descend from the top toward the player. Once they reach the bottom, the game is over. To delay this as long as possible, you need to shoot your own colored stripes at the falling ones! Two stripes of the same color that meet each other disappear immediately. The controls are as simple as it gets: the game starts with **Enter**, and you fire red, green, and blue stripes using the **Q**, **W**, and **E** keys respectively. That's basically it — the gameplay ends there. The game itself won’t take up much of your time either, as the difficulty ramps up so fast that you’ll get a total game over in just a few minutes. Strictly speaking, it’s hard to call *Border Game* a full-fledged game — it’s more like a concept test. ALKO himself says that he might later release a collection of such simple arcade puzzles, but right now he’s just too lazy. Personally, we’d really like to see *Border Game* brought to a finished state. It wouldn’t be that hard to do: - Add stripes not only to the border but also to the main screen (yes, it would no longer be purely *Border Game*, but it would look and play much better). - Make the difficulty progression smoother. - Add a scoring system. - Add sound effects and/or music. - Implement a proper menu with control options. - Draw at least a very simple title screen. These changes — especially the first two — would be enough to make *Border Game* genuinely fun to play, rather than something you poke at for a couple of minutes and then abandon.
