It's common from Nintendo's Reggie, or all throughout Melee. Whether it's been yawned at you to drown out your complaints, or you've used it yourself to casually tell your friends to "stop complaining and git gud"; this phrase is actually rather powerful when you think about. We shouldn't take this for granted. Not only does this encourage us all to stop complaining and focus our energy in the right direction for improvement, but we are lucky to have it ingrained in our community. It is in our very best interest to internalize this idea. No Johns certainly holds others accountable, but unless you are repeating this to yourself, it does nothing for you on your own. You cannot rely on others. They won't always be there, and they won't always be there to encourage you to stay on your path for growth. Consider "No Johns" your own personal mantra. Internalize it. Value it.
