New Colour Earl Jeep Wrangler Rubicon

Initially featured on the Gladiator Farout concept, Earl, a bold shade of gray with hints of aquamarine, joins the Gladiator lineup following its production debut earlier this years Wrangler lineup. Breathlessly reporting on the simple addition of some new paint colours on a particular model – especially one which has been around for about half a decade – doesn’t usually make our front page. But we make an exception when the crew at Stellantis, a merry band of maniacs which tend to have more fun than most while carrying out their jobs, drop a healthy dose of creativity on us out of nowhere. Earl and Purple Reign join a lengthy lineup of eye-popping and special-run colours that add a certain appeal to the Wrangler, which offers an entertaining colour palette straight from the factory. The new hues will be available on all Wrangler models, from Sport to 392 and 4xe. Jeep says this Earl was first showcased on the Gladiator Farout concept a couple of years ago, an overlanding rig which also said ‘yes’ to approximately the entire Jeep Performance Parts catalog. That concept had some lime-green (sorry — chartreuse) accents but this production variant simply has a smattering of red addenda on the Rubicon trim shown here. Other changes to the Wrangler for 2023 are of the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it variety, including the likes of new wheels designs and minor badging alterations in some markets. Jeep says that Earl replaces the wonderfully named Snazzberry, which was a very dark (almost burgundy) purple. Methinks that Reign is a more direct replacement for Snazzberry, but so it goes. Free idea for Jeep: if you’re now going with names like “Earl” for grey, then you should name your next burgundy “Ron.” Earl is a no-charge colour offered for the entire 2023 model year; while Reign is a limited- production item costing $495 that can be ordered from now to October.
