We all heard about the nitrogen bubbles that form in our body after diving. And we all heard they cause DCS. But wait - how clear is this relationship between an actual dive, bubbles and DCS? Unfortunately, there is just one word to describe it: Chaotic. The same person can do the same dive profile on different days, once she gets no bubbles at all, once lots of bubbles. Two persons can do the same dive, one gets bent, the other is not even tired. So, there is actually not very much we know. The few things that are certain: - no bubbles, no DCS - leaving the water with a lower GF means a lower risk (but never zero) Thats it. The rest is a big questionmark. Be careful, dive safe and embrace the small risk you can not avoid - it’s worth it! By Veronika Sievers, Punkfish Academy http://punkfish-academy.com
