In this video I’m figuring out how to get my Ebac 4850 21L (Series 4000) dehumidifier connected to my phone using the Smart Life app. I’m not going to pretend I’m some smart-home wizard (I’m really no good at apps), so I show you exactly how I stumbled through it: scanning the QR code in the quick start guide, hitting the plus button, using “scan”, and then getting the unit into pairing mode by holding the button for about 5 seconds until the Wi‑Fi indicator is blinking. It’s a bit fiddly and there’s not much guidance, but once it’s added successfully, you can basically see the same controls as on the top panel. After that, I test the big question people keep asking me: can you control it when you’re not even in the house and not on the same Wi‑Fi? So I take Casper to the park, leave a camera on the dehumidifier, and try changing fan speed, turning it off/on, switching modes (laundry/smart/target), and adjusting target humidity remotely. And yes—from what I’m doing, it works. I’ll be honest though: I still don’t “get” smart homes… sometimes it feels easier to just press the button in front of you. But if your dehumidifier is in a garage, conservatory, or somewhere awkward, this app control is a genuinely useful feature.
