In my “No, No Kindergarten with Baby DB” song, I act out the funny (and very real) moment when kids say, “Mama! Papa! I don’t like my kindergarten!” and then come the excuses: “I just want to sleep,” “I just want to play,” “I don’t like their food,” and “they are not so nice.” You’ll hear the back-and-forth: “Why?” “No!” “Huh?” and the big routine reminder: “Anyway, you will go to kindergarten! Bye!” I made it super catchy so kids can sing along while they learn that routines still happen even when we feel sleepy or silly. Then we switch to another daily habit: brushing teeth. Baby DB shouts, “I don’t want to brush my teeth! Why?” and tries to trade it for “watch and play,” “jump and dance,” even “do karate.” But I bring it back with the simple message: “Brush your teeth! Trrr-Ra-Ta-Ta!” The takeaway is easy for little learners: feelings are okay, excuses are funny, but healthy routines (kindergarten, brushing, studying) help us grow.
