About This Video

What’s going on guys — in this video I break down what a cybersecurity analyst actually does in the day-to-day workflow. And I want to be super clear: your “day in the life” depends heavily on the company. In a smaller org, you’re wearing a bunch of different hats, touching more tools, and honestly it can be a great starting point because you learn faster. In a bigger corporation, the role can be way more defined, and you might do the same set of tasks and tools day after day. I walk through a realistic flow of a typical day: starting with a morning meeting to sync with the team on events, blockers, and what got done yesterday, then moving into checking emails and working ticket queues. Those tickets can cover a lot — Windows or Linux admin work, firewall items, email security, endpoint detection and response, and alerts coming in. If you’re new, I explain why having some system administration fundamentals and a little PowerShell or bash scripting will help you a ton. I also talk about how projects take up a big chunk of your time when you’re not in day-to-day operations, plus the reality of working with vendors to troubleshoot product issues and bugs. The goal is to give you a high-level, real-life picture of the job so you know what you’re getting into and how to prepare.
