This video isn’t a mixing tutorial, and it’s definitely not a “like and subscribe” kind of thing. It’s me (Mike) sitting down with my mate Dan (@LonelyRocker) to pay respect to our dear friend Ricky T. Brown—someone who meant a lot to our little home-studio corner of the internet. We talk about when he passed (late July), why it took us a bit to make this tribute, and we invite everyone—live chat and replay—to leave memories so this can live on as a permanent thank-you to him. We get into what Ricky was actually like: the big smile, the constant positivity, and the way he made time for people. A huge part of his legacy was HRZ (Home Recording Studio Zone)—a genuinely welcoming Facebook group where beginners didn’t get torn to shreds for asking “basic” questions. We share how he encouraged creators to post and help others, how he showed up in comment sections with supportive words, and how the chemistry of those long Fix-By-Mix-style hangouts was real (including the “we talked for hours after the stream” part). We also speak plainly about his struggles—without turning it into details—and we highlight the incredible role his wife Lorraine played in supporting him.
