Lately I’ve been having trouble with anxiety and feeling overwhelmed, and I realized a big part of it is decision fatigue from having too many cameras around. In this video I talk through why I’m selling my Canon EOS R8 (it’s basically brand new) even though it’s a great camera with a nice sensor and solid quality. When I’ve got multiple bodies sitting around, I don’t focus—I just overthink, and then I don’t create. So I’m simplifying on purpose and keeping my setup tight so I can just pick something up and shoot. I’m also letting go of some gear that’s been with me forever, like my Canon 17-40mm f/4L. That lens is my baby—I shot vlogs and wide-angle photos on it for years (especially back on the 1DX), and I love how versatile it is while staying lighter than some other wide zooms. And then there’s the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro Adventure Combo—one of the best action cams you can buy right now—but again, it’s another camera in the pile. The takeaway is simple: for me, less gear = more creativity. I even talk about taking Instagram off my phone to cut distractions and get back to making what I actually want to make.
