About This Video

The MacBook Neo is probably the best laptop you can get for the price, but in this video I show how I turned mine from the default setup into something that’s way more convenient (and honestly, way cuter). I’ve had my Neo for about a week, and because the 13-inch screen can feel cramped fast, I start with the changes that immediately give you more working space—setting Display to “More Space,” auto-hiding the Dock, and even auto-hiding the menu bar if you’re not a menu-bar-widgets person. I also walk through Hot Corners, a better screen saver setup (including Flip Clock), and the window snapping shortcuts I actually use. Then I get into the apps and settings that make everyday use smoother: Lunar for external monitor brightness control, Raycast for spotlight-style search plus window management and floating notes, and trackpad gesture tweaks like enabling App ExposĂ© and turning off that notification-center swipe that can make the right edge feel less responsive. After that, we go full customization—accent colors, custom folder icons (yes, tennis ball vibes), Stacks for an organized desktop, live/dynamic wallpapers, and widgets with DeskWidgets and WidgetWall. Finally, I upgrade the menu bar with the best free stats app (Stats), plus QuickNote, Hand Mirror, and a real clipboard manager (Maccy) so screenshots are easier to preview. It’s basically my full “first things to do” checklist to make the Neo feel personal and more productive.
