Upcycling Packaging into a Junk Journal Specimen Folio…Vintage Ephemera Project

Hey hey In today’s video I’m turning everyday packaging into something beautiful 🤍 This started life as my lunch box… and ended up as a vintage-style specimen folio filled with layered ephemera, field notes, archival labels and of course a few butterflies 🦋 I absolutely love projects like this because they remind us that we don’t need expensive supplies to create something special. Old book pages, scraps, thread, gauze, bits from your stash — and suddenly something that would have gone in the bin looks like it belongs in a 1920s museum drawer. If you ever feel like you don’t have “the right” materials, this is your sign to look at packaging differently. Cereal boxes, delivery boxes, food sleeves… they’re all just sturdy chipboard waiting to be transformed.
