Welcome back for Part 3! On this episode we get to the halfway point of our SOBO hike of the JMT. Things run pretty smoothly from Lake Virginia to Vermillion Valley Resort (VVR) and we enjoy a nice 24hrs or so there. The rest of was great, the food was amazing (yet pricey), and our 7 day resupply made our packs pretty dang heavy. But all in all, a great stay at VVR. Next we head out on the 4pm Ferry and make our way up and over Bear Ridge. That was no joke, especially starting at 4:30pm. The descent however was brilliant with the sun setting. Yet another amazing, beautiful part of the trail. Leaving VVR, the real JMT experience starts with high alpine passes every day on the march towards Mount Whitney. Stay tuned for Part 4! Day 6: Lake Virginia to VVR 15.1 miles and 1,988ft of elevation gain Day 7: VVR to near Fish Creek on the south side of Bear Ridge 8.81 miles and 2,577ft of elevation gain ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #hiking #thruhike #backpacking #jmt #johnmuirtrail
