When you hear New Orleans, you probably think of Bourbon street, but judging by my face this isn't the main reason I'm here. This is why I'm here. Just an hour north of New Orleans is the Bogue Chitto State Park, and I was invited to a grand opening event on April 10, but forecasted rain had other plans. Luckily Jared from Cure Cycling along with trail coordinator Toby were able to show us around in between two rain days. This place looks amazing and not at all how I pictured Louisiana trails, and what's even more incredible? The 2 trails featured in this video were built in 6 months by Flowmotion trail builders. Want another fun fact?! This black jump line called Mega Zephyr has only 28 feet of elevation. Our tour started with the biggest feature out here the Tower of Terror. a 13 foot drop modeled after Drop the Hammer in Bentonville. This is a serious feature that gave me a feeling of....well terror. The landing was a bit wet and rutted out, so it wasn't ideal to do this drop, but with a feature like this....it gives you a reason to come back. Another scary feature is this skinny boner log gap jump. One more thing that made me question my riding skills which is awesome. As it had rained the day before we could only ride the top portion of the jump line, but let me tell you this run is a blast! Tabletops, huge berms the size of Jared, gap jumps and a very sizeable step up make for hours of sessionable fun. Next we'll check out the blue flow line Cortez Coaster, and this was easily my favorite trail here. Living in Texas we don't have a ton of dedicated flow trails, so this was an exciting change of pace. Feature after feature that will satisfy any skill level, and it was designed to be ridden both directions. A slight uphill roller one way turns into a delightful kicker when heading back. A clever design that adds up to over 2 miles of flowy goodness. I'm glad we still got to check this place out despite mother natures best efforts. Between sessioning these two lines and filming, we didn't get to ride much else. These two trails however were incredibly fun, and they are just getting started. I loved Jared and Toby's enthusiasm for the future of this place, and they should be proud of what they've created this far along with Flowmotion. Other attractions will include a dual slalom course, pump track, dirt jump area, and even more Louisiana bred trails. So if you're planning a trip to New Orleans anytime soon, mountain biking should be high on your itenerary. If you want to donate to these trails I've left a link down in the description below. Thanks to Jared for the invite, toby for showing us around, and Ryan and Anna for joining Jenna and I on this trip. Thanks for watching...
