On Wednesday 7 May, Stagecoach invited stakeholders to the official launch of its plans to create a ‘depot of the future’ in Stockton-on-Tees in the north-east of England, which will serve as a blueprint for future electric bus depots across its UK operations. The existing depot will be rebuilt with new maintenance facilities as well as a rooftop garden for staff, and a new community hub will be built to support Stagecoach’s ambition to make its charging facilities available to local businesses and members of the public. Once completed later this year, the depot will be home to a harmonised fleet of 67 Yutong electric buses; 66 E12 single-deckers and one U11DD double-decker. CBW attended the launch, which took place at Middlesborough’s Acklam Hall. See issue 1678 for more.
