When my day feels a little dippy and I can’t seem to focus, I’ve learned that the best way forward is to stop thinking about everything at once and just start with one small task. In today’s video I’m tackling a mountain of clean laundry — folding, sorting and putting it all away — by working in simple 5-minute bursts. Breaking it down like this helps me reset my mind, build momentum and still get things done without feeling overwhelmed. And of course, I finish with a little special treat at the end because sometimes a gentle reward is exactly what keeps us going. In this video, I’m also sharing how I gently get myself moving again when life has been feeling a little overwhelming and my focus has been all over the place. As I work through folding, sorting and putting away the clean laundry, I’ll also be chatting about some of the things I’ve been decluttering lately and why simplifying my home helps calm my mind when everything feels too much. Sometimes the smallest tasks can help us feel grounded again, and I’m sharing the simple 5-minute method that helps me get things done without adding more pressure. One thing that can make a real difference when you struggle with focus, or simply getting started is using a gentle combination of body doubling, timers and small rewards. Body doubling means having someone alongside you — even virtually through a video like this — which can make tasks feel less overwhelming and help you stay on track. Setting a short timer for just five or ten minutes can take away the pressure of a big job and make it feel far more manageable, while giving yourself a little reward afterwards, like a cup of tea or a quiet sit down, can help create positive motivation to begin in the first place.
