The problem is that signs and symptoms of DCS can range from joint pain, numbness or tingling, fatigue, skin problems (such as itching or rashes), and neurological issues like weakness, paralysis, or cognitive changes, among others. With such a wide range of symptoms, it's difficult to know if you are experiencing decompression illness, decompression sickness, or maybe you just are a little dehydrated or feeling off. This video covers a real dive incident report filed with DAN (Diver's Alert Network) about a scuba diver who was worried they had DCS, and the field test her dive buddies did to help determine what was actually going on.
