I break down why that conservatism and ritual matters in the lore, and why it’s actually a useful thought experiment for how real medicine adopts new tech: slowly, with guardrails, and usually after someone proves it’s safe, repeatable, and worth the trade-offs. Then I pivot into modern augmentation reality: prosthetics, implantables, brain interfaces, and wearable exoskeletons. I talk about what we can do right now versus what’s still sci‑fi—especially when people imagine “plug-and-play” cybernetics like you’re swapping a graphics card. The big takeaway is that integration is the hard part: nerves, skin, infection risk, power supply, long-term maintenance, and the fact that biology is messy. We’re getting closer to “cyborg” function in specific, targeted ways, but Tech Priest-level post-human transformation raises ethical questions we can’t hand-wave—who gets it, who controls it, and what happens when enhancement stops being therapy.
