About This Video

Social media is basically a highlight reel of people doing the most… and the gym is no exception. In this video I break down viral GymTok fails and the lifting mistakes that turn “content” into knee pain, back tweaks, and sometimes a full-on trip to the ER. I’m an orthopedic surgeon and I own a gym, so I’m watching these clips with two brains at once: the anatomy brain and the “please don’t do that” brain. We talk squat fails (especially knee alignment and what happens when your glutes and hips can’t control the movement), and why chasing depth or weight without owning your positions is a fast track to injury. I also get into deadlift mechanics—sumo included—plus the risks/benefits of things like a false grip, and what spinal stability and bracing actually mean when you’re under load. And yes, we cover the fainting clips: why people pass out after big lifts, what blood pressure and breath-holding have to do with it, and how to tell normal fatigue from a real injury. The takeaway is simple: train smarter, use spotters, respect your limits, and stop letting the algorithm write your program.
