An update of what we have been up to with Charlie especially over the last few years with his health. Specifically, in this video we talk about his cancer diagnosis of anal gland adenocarcinoma and lymphoma of the stomach. I hope this is helpful for other pet parents managing or encountering this type of disease with their dog 🐶❤️✨

About This Video

Hi everyone—I'm Charlie (Char Char) and this video is a real-life health update on what we’ve been dealing with over the last few years. It’s been almost eight years since I posted, but when I saw some of our old videos helping people (and getting a ton of views), I felt like it was time to share what we’ve learned—especially because navigating dog health stuff can feel so daunting. Charlie is doing really well day-to-day (honestly, he’s happy, eating, playful, and looks amazing), but we’ve been managing some serious diagnoses behind the scenes. It started in late 2019 when a groomer noticed lumps while expressing his anal glands (I’m still so grateful she spoke up). After monitoring and then surgery in April 2020 (pandemic delays and all), biopsies confirmed anal gland adenocarcinoma. We found a local oncologist in Southern California (Vet Cancer Group) and did regular monitoring. In February 2021, an ultrasound showed a suspicious lymph node—likely spread—so we were referred to Dr. Bamarito (double boarded oncologist/radiologist) and did 14 rounds of radiation, which Charlie responded to extremely well. Before starting chemo, more testing led to another diagnosis: lymphoma of the stomach. We’re treating both, and now we’re facing another lump that needs removal, because quality of life matters most—and Charlie still has so much life to live.
