What’s going on, YouTube? In this quick step-by-step tutorial, I’m showing you how to extract and open ZIP files right on your iPhone—no laptop, no MacBook, nothing extra. A lot of people still think you need a computer to deal with compressed files like ZIP (or even other compressed formats), but iOS can handle it easily through the Files app. In my example, I receive a ZIP file in Gmail, and I walk you through the exact taps to get it opened in minutes. The key is saving the ZIP into the Files app first. I tap the attachment, hit Share, choose “Save to Files,” pick a folder (I used one called “scan doc”), and save it. After that, I open the Files app, go to the folder, and tap the ZIP file—your iPhone will extract it and let you preview what’s inside. Once it’s extracted, you can share those files anywhere, like WhatsApp, email, AirDrop, or reply back to whoever sent it. This is perfect when you’re on the go and need access fast.
