Video is one of the easiest ways to spark interaction and deliver value inside a Mighty Network—and I want your members to be able to watch right inside the platform without bouncing all over the internet. In this tutorial, I walk through the biggest decision you’ll make with video: when it makes sense to upload a video directly into Mighty Networks (and store it there), versus when it’s smarter to store the video in YouTube or Vimeo and embed it into your network. I share four practical questions I use with clients to make this decision. First, consider file size—hosts can upload up to 4GB, but space moderators/hosts can be limited to 25MB. Second, think about whether you also want that video to live publicly on YouTube or Vimeo (embedding avoids duplicating storage and uploading twice). Third, decide if you’ll need the original file later—because you can’t currently download a video file once it’s uploaded into Mighty Networks. Finally, look at storage limits on your Mighty plan (and note that videos uploaded in a table of contents don’t count toward storage).
