In this Spring Cleaning: Part 2 video, I’m tackling all the soft surfaces—because that’s where the real “how is this so dirty?” results always show up. I’m deep cleaning rugs (downstairs rugs plus hallway/stairs and the upstairs carpet—just not on camera because I don’t film in my kids’ rooms), washing bed pillows, and washing a mountain of pillow covers. I also finally start the big job I’ve been putting off: washing my LoveSac couch slipcovers…which means disassembling the couch, unplugging the stereo system, and doing it in a super systematic way so we can actually put the monster back together. I share my realistic process: vacuum before you shampoo (it makes a world of difference), use Folex to spot clean and lightly mist slipcovers, and please clean out your carpet cleaner thoroughly before you put it away or it will smell nasty. I also show you the “discard water” (humbling, disgusting, and always shocking), and I’m honest about what I learned—doing all of this at once completely disrupts the house. As a Christian home planner, I still love a good reset, but I’m convinced my monthly cleaning project list (spreading tasks out) is the better rhythm for me.
