Ottawa Children's Business Fair draws nearly 60 young vendors

Nearly 60 children and youth ranging in age from four to 18 took part in the Ottawa Children's Business Fair, selling handmade products and creative services while learning core business skills including pricing, cost management, and financial strategy. CTV's Camille Wilson reports that Mayor Mark Sutcliffe attended the event and praised the spirit of entrepreneurship, while fair coordinator SJ Anderson explained that participants typically borrow startup funds from their parents and repay them after sales. Alecia Liu, creator of Alecia's Pink Pencil, sold handmade crochet products and pottery. Dia Bahadury, co-creator of Arts by Us, offered original handmade artwork; and siblings Dahlia Parent and her co-creator won the Best Financial Awareness Award after repaying their mother's startup loan across two sales. Youth author Edwin Villemaire also took part, selling his books at prices ranging from $15 for one to $35 for three.
